Imagine Peace Tower, John Lennon's Memorial
The peace tower was lid up on the 9th of October 2007 for the first time and is a memorial to the legendary John Lennon. The monument itself is situated in the Island Videy, right outside of Reykjavik and is a boat ride away (the boat fare is not for free). Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, gathered wishes throughout the years that are buried underneath the memorial. The words "Imagine Peace" are written on the memorial in 24 languages.
From 9th of October throughout 8th of December, the tower light can be seen all over Reykjavik, especially when the sky is clear. 9th of October was John Lennon's birthday, and the 8th of December was the day he got shot.
Please visit the Imagine Peace Tower's website for more information on when the tower can be seen.
