Þjóðarbókhlaðan, the National Library in Reykjavik
Near the university lies the National and University Library which took several years to build. The library collects all printed works printed in Iceland, by Icelanders and about Iceland. Feel free to look around. If you want to see the books published before 19 hundreds, you would need a special permission to access them.
In front of the library is a small garden which is supposed to represent a shrine that keeps all the national treasures.
